Thank you for visiting the AutoTrader.com careers website, located at careers.autotrader.com (the "Site"), and for your interest in our company. This privacy statement describes how AutoTrader.com, Inc. and its affiliates, which include Kelley Blue Book Co., Inc., vAuto, Inc., VinSolutions, Inc., HomeNet, Inc. and CDMData, Inc. (collectively, the "AutoTrader Group," "ATG," "we," or "us") collect information from you when you apply for a job with an ATG company via this Site, and how we use that information. If you do not wish for us to use information collected from you in the manner described in this privacy statement, please do not submit information to us via this Site.

Please note that this privacy statement applies only to this Site. Your use of any other ATG company website, including AutoTrader.com, KBB.com, vAuto.com, VinSolutions.com, and HomeNetAuto.com (collectively, the "ATG Sites"), is subject to the privacy statement posted on that site.

The Information We Collect

You may browse job listings on this Site without providing any personally identifying information to us. To submit an application or resume for one of our posted positions, however, you will need to provide us with certain information about yourself in order for us to process and evaluate your application. Specifically, we may ask you to provide the following information:

  • user name and password;
  • name, address, telephone number, email address, and/or other contact information;
  • confirmation that you are least 18 years of age and are legally authorized to work in the U.S.;
  • resume or CV, and/or cover letter;
  • type of employment sought, date available, how you heard about the position;
  • previous work experience, including salary information, supervisor information, and achievements;
  • education information, including transcripts;
  • employment history with the ATG companies (including, specifically, whether you are currently employed by any ATG company);
  • relationship to other ATG company employees; and
  • other relevant information you may desire to provide, including any optional demographic information.

In addition, if you are offered a position with an ATG company after the application process is complete, we may ask you to return to this Site to provide us with the information necessary for us to perform a background check, including:

  • Social Security number;
  • previous addresses;
  • previous employment information; and
  • employer references.

We will also require that you provide an electronic signature each time you submit information to us through the Site.

We may combine the information we collect through this Site with information (including personally identifying information) that we may have collected from other sources, including information we may have gathered offline as part of the hiring process.

We also may collect other information about you when you use this Site through automated processes. For instance, we automatically collect certain anonymous information, such as which pages of our Site that you visit, your IP address, the web browser you are using (such as Internet Explorer), and the site that referred you to our Site. We also may place a cookie (a small entry in text file) on your browser. The cookie contains an ID number that allows us to track the pages you've visited. We aggregate this data with data on the pages visited by other users to track overall visitor traffic patterns. We use this information to improve our site by making it more responsive to the needs of our users. You can access, review, and change most of your personally identifying information that we retain by logging into the Site. Information we gather on this Site is stored within databases we control (or databases hosted on our behalf) on servers maintained in protected environments. However, no physical or electronic security system is impenetrable. We cannot guarantee the security of our servers or databases, nor can we guarantee that information you supply won't be intercepted while being transmitted to us over the Internet.

Changes to this Privacy Statement

The web is an evolving medium. If we need to change this privacy statement at some point in the future, we will post the changes to this on this Site and update the reference to the effective date of this policy to reflect the date of the amendment. By visiting this Site, you agree that your visit, and any dispute over privacy, is governed by this Privacy Statement and the visitor agreements posted on the ATG Sites.
